The German American San Diego Foundation was founded in 2010 on the initiative of its President, the German Honorary Consul Dr. Stephan Hollmann, and is supported by a number of German-American companies.

It has since expanded into the German American Foundation, spanning across much of the Southwest including Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and San Diego.
